His career highlights include serving as the Group President and Chief Executive Officer of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGV), where he was appointed in 2013, and as a key figure in the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) in the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Department, focusing on National Key Economic Areas (NKEA).
Educated with a Chemistry Degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Master’s of Engineering Management from Warwick University, his global advisory roles are equally impressive. Having been a Senior Advisor to the United Nations Development Program in the Middle East and North Africa (1998- 2004), and an Advisor to the Minister of Finance in the United Arab Emirates (2002-2007). His tenure at FGV included its initial public offering (IPO), which was, at the time, the world’s second-largest after Facebook.
Despite his achievements, Dato’ Emir is a simple man who enjoys spending time with his family, simple “mamak” food and a cup of “Teh Tarik”.
