PETRA News launches malay medium news portal, Getaran.my

Kuala Lumpur, 29 January: PETRA News today unveiled a Malay language news portal, Getaran.my, in a first-of-its-kind virtual hybrid launch for a news website.

Depicted with the “Gema Berita dan Hiburan” tagline which means ‘the echoes of news and entertainment’, Getaran.my aims to keep readers informed with accurate and authentic news. Getaran.my is a unique media site that promotes a balance between feature stories and the latest entertainment news.

This latest news portal complements the success PETRA News’ English medium news portal, The Vibes.com launched in September 2020, which aims to promote the inherent value of transparency in news, without agenda nor propaganda, while also providing the latest in entertainment news to readers.

Terence Fernandez, Group Managing Editor of PETRA News said, “PETRA News gives priority to journalists and members of the media who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

PETRA News also ensures that employees are made up of multiracial individuals to cultivate the spirit of nationalism. I am proud that we were able to achieve that with The Vibes and now with Getaran.my,” he said.

M. Zulkifli Abd Jalil, or better known as M.Zul, spearheaded the virtual launch of Getaran.my earlier today. He also leads a group of editorial personnel of the newly formed news portal. M.Zul, who was once a Court Magistrate and then moved on to the world of media broadcasting through successful stints with The Malay Mail and Media Prima, is bringing with him over 25 years of industry experience.

“I could not be prouder to be leading a team of excellent newsmen and women at Getaran.my. These are challenging times, and we hope to be a beacon of hope in the media landscape by reporting the news right down the middle without fear or favour. Whether it is politics or entertainment, we must remain current and fresh and that is exactly what Getaran.my aims to be.” said M.Zul.

“Getaran.my will soon become a media site that is accessible to all walks of life regardless of race. Our hopes are that Getaran.my will build inclusion through the power of the Malay language while forging new relations beyond the colour of our skin.” added Terence.

Getaran.my is also supported by Datuk Ahirudin Attan, or well-known as Rocky Bru, the Executive Director of PETRA News.

“Unity is what made Getaran.my possible, and its eventual excellence achievable. The news portal, as an alternative and reliable news source is determined to report without bias while striving to entertain Malaysians through a myriad of entertainment content,” added Ahiruddin.
